Ownership transfer and travel are different questions
Giving or selling a firearm to someone else and traveling with a firearm you already own involve different issues. Describe which situation you mean when asking a dealer or qualified adviser for help.
Residency matters
ATF describes dealer transfers to out-of-state unlicensed residents as generally restricted, with a conditional over-the-counter exception for rifles and shotguns. That exception requires compliance with federal law and the laws of both states. Do not apply it automatically to other firearm categories.

Confirm the receiving dealer and the applicable process before arranging an interstate purchase. Ask it to verify the item category, residency documents and both states’ requirements for your situation. Do not assume an online checkout determines legal eligibility.
